The Tale of Two Queens // Ps Nadia Clark

THE TALE OF 2 QUEENS

2 Samuel 6:20-23

20 When David returned home to bless his household, Michal daughter of Saul came out to meet him and said, “How the king of Israel has distinguished himself today, going around half-naked in full view of the slave girls of his servants as any vulgar fellow would!”

21 David said to Michal, “It was before the Lord, who chose me rather than your father or anyone from his house when he appointed me ruler over the Lord’s people Israel—I will celebrate before the Lord.

22 I will become even more undignified than this, and I will be humiliated in my own eyes. But by these slave girls you spoke of, I will be held in honor.”

23 And Michal daughter of Saul had no children to the day of her death.

Esther 4:15-16

15 Then Esther sent this reply to Mordecai: 16 “Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.”

An unhealthy grievance- one that is based on self. Leads to bitterness, unforgiveness and resentment. About building our Kingdom here on earth

A healthy grievance- one that is based in a cause greater than self. Leads to impact, fruitfulness and wholeness. About God’s Kingdom coming here on earth.

What grievance will be live for?…our personal grievance or a greater grievance.

1 Samuel 17:29 NKJV
And David said, “What have I done now? Is there not a cause?”

Genesis 50:20 NIV

You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.

2 Timothy 2:10 NLT

So I am willing to endure anything if it will bring salvation and eternal glory in Christ Jesus to those God has chosen.

LIVING FOR A GREATER GRIEVANCE

1)  It’s paying the cost and trusting God for the reward

Hebrews 11:6 NIV

6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Psalm 42:11 NKJV

Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

Isaiah 42:14-16 (Message)

But I’ll take the hand of those who don’t know the way, who can’t see where they’re going. I’ll be a personal guide to them, directing them through unknown country. I’ll be right there to show them what roads to take, make sure they don’t fall into the ditch. These are the things I’ll be doing for them— sticking with them, not leaving them for a minute.”

2)  It’s having a posture of being chosen, rather than being used.

Esther 4:14

And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”

1 Peter 2:9

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

Isaiah 41:9

I took you from the ends of the earth, from its farthest corners I called you. I said, ‘You are my servant’; I have chosen you and have not rejected you.

3) It’s looking for the appointment in the middle of the disappointment.

Romans 8:28

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
