Say YES to the Holy Sprit // Ps Sean Stanton

Plain, Simple, Powerful — First Jesus

“I deliberately kept it plain and simple: first Jesus and who He is; then Jesus and what He did—Jesus crucified.” 1 Corinthians 2:2 (MSG)

What if the limit on your life isn’t what God has withheld… but the ‘Yes’ you’ve withheld from Jesus?

Does Jesus Have Your ‘YES?’ — Say ’Yes’  To The Holy Spirit

‘Yes’ to Jesus is a ‘Yes’ to the Holy Spirit

“I baptise you with water for repentance. But after Me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptise you with the Holy Spirit and fire.” Matthew 3:11 (NIV)

“He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Saviour, so that, having been justified by His grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.” Titus 3:5–7 (NIV)

“I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.” Lk 24:49 (NIV)

“God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” Romans 5:5 (NIV)

“The Spirit is given not only to transform us morally, but to draw us into a lived experience of God’s love and empowering presence for witness and service.” Clark H. Pinnock

“Without the Spirit of God, we can do nothing. We are as ships without wind.” A.W. Tozer

A Spirit-Led Life Begins With ‘Yes’

“Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptised with water, but in a few days you will be baptised with the Holy Spirit… You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be…” Acts 1:4–5, 8 (NIV)

It is not enough for us to have the Spirit; the Spirit must have us! Only then can He share with us the abundant, victorious life that can be ours in Christ… He is “the Spirit of Life.” Warren Wiersbe

”You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you.” Acts 1:8 (NIV)

“The power of the Holy Spirit is not given to make us happy, but to make us effective.” Watchman Nee

Two Lives, One Spirit—Led Moment

“You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, announcing the good news of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all… While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message. The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on Gentiles. For they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God.”  Acts 10:36, 44–46 (NIV)

The Holy Spirit is the ultimate Architect of the unexpected.

“He saw heaven opened… Then a voice told him, “Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.”  “Surely not, Lord!” Peter replied. “I have never eaten anything impure or unclean.”  The voice spoke to him a second time, “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.” This happened three times.” Acts 10:11–15 (NIV)

Sometimes, God will offend our minds to reveal what’s in our hearts.

“For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.” Hebrews 4:12 (NLT)

“It is written: ‘What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived’ — the things God has prepared for those who love Him— these are the things God has revealed to us by His Spirit.” 1 Corinthians 2:9–10 (NIV)
