Say "Yes" to Purpose // Ps Sean Stanton

Plain — Simple — Powerful — First Jesus

“I deliberately kept it plain and simple: first Jesus and who He is; then Jesus and what He did—Jesus crucified.” (1 Corinthians 2:2, MSG)

What if the greatest barrier to God’s purpose in your life isn’t your ability but your availability?

Does Jesus Have Your “YES?”

Say “Yes” To Purpose — Stepping Into What God Created You To Do

“God does not so much ask for your ability as your availability.” — Max Lucado

1.         The Encounter — Purpose Is Not Found, It Is Answered

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of His robe filled the temple. Above Him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying.  And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of His glory.” At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.” Isaiah 6:1–4 (NIV)

Isaiah didn't need a mission statement; he needed a moment encountering God’s Majesty. “Apart from Me you can do nothing.” John 15:5 (NIV).

“God does not tell you what He is going to do; He reveals Who He is.” — Oswald Chambers

2.         The Cleansing — Purpose Begins With Encounter

“Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.” Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.”  Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” Isaiah 6:5–8 (NIV)

“I saw the Lord.” Isaiah 6:1b (NIV)

“Your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.” Isaiah 6:7 (NIV)

3.         The Commission — Your “YES” To God’s Purpose

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” Isaiah 6:8 (NIV)

The truth about Jesus’ purpose for your life:

‣        It is Prepared: “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)

‣        It Requires Trust: “Come, follow Me, and I will send you.” Matthew 4:19 (NIV)

4.         The Commitment — Your “YES” A Daily Choice

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” Isaiah 6:8 (NIV)

“Here I am. Send me!” Isaiah 6:8 (NIV).

“So, as the Holy Spirit says: ‘Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.’” Hebrews 3:7–8 (NIV)

God doesn't want your ability; He wants your availability.

“God uses people who have nothing to offer but themselves. He uses the weak to confound the mighty.”

— Max Lucado
