Help My Unbelief // Ps John Pearse

Help My Unbelief

“When God is silent, He is not absent. ‘Surely,’ He has promised, ‘I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’” — Pete Greig, God on Mute

“When they came to the other disciples, they saw a large crowd around them and the teachers of the law arguing with them. As soon as all the people saw Jesus, they were overwhelmed with wonder and ran to greet him. ‘What are you arguing with them about?’ he asked.” — Mark 9:14–16 NIV

“A man in the crowd answered, ‘Teacher, I brought you my son, who is possessed by a spirit that has robbed him of speech. Whenever it seizes him, it throws him to the ground. He foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth and becomes rigid. I asked your disciples to drive out the spirit, but they could not.’” — Mark 9:17–18 NIV

“It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.” — Mark 9:22 NIV

“‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.” — Mark 9:23 NIV

“I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” — Mark 9:24 NIV

“We are assured that it’s okay to grieve and cry, to plead with God and to wonder why. In fact, it’s more than okay—it’s affirmed as something that expresses His heart. God accepts our honesty.” — Pete Greig, God on Mute

“When Jesus saw that a crowd was running to the scene, he rebuked the impure spirit. ‘You deaf and mute spirit,’ he said, ‘I command you, come out of him and never enter him again.’” — Mark 9:25 NIV

“The spirit shrieked, convulsed him violently and came out. The boy looked so much like a corpse that many said, ‘He’s dead.’ But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him to his feet, and he stood up.” — Mark 9:26–27 NIV

“When we open our hearts to be honest with God in prayer, He hears us and steps through the door to be with us, totally unfazed by the mess of our interior world.” — Pete Greig, God on Mute

“The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.” — Exodus 34:6 NIV

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” — Romans 5:8 NIV

FAITH BEGINS TO RISE AGAIN WHEN WE BRING OUR HONEST UNBELIEF TO JESUS AND SEE HIM FOR WHO HE TRULY IS.

“Why couldn’t we drive it out?” He replied, “This kind can come out only by prayer.” — Mark 9:28–29 NIV

Declaration

I believe Jesus is who He says He is.
He is faithful in every season, present in every storm and powerful in every circumstance.
His character is trustworthy, and His presence is with me.
By the power of the Holy Spirit, I trust in who Jesus is.
Today, I choose to look to Him, follow Him, and believe in Him.
